Patrick Awuah (photo courtesy of TED.com) founded Ashesi University, the first liberal arts college in Ghana. He recalls what it took to start the university, challenges with re-acclimating to life in Ghana after decades in Seattle, and his experience dealing with corruption – not just something prevalent in the older generation, but a serious problem with young people also.
Please excuse the sounds of planes leaving from the airport in the background.

Corruption has been the key in failing our beloved Africa. Makes me feel proud to know my fellow African’s great ambitions towards his country and his people. Now, we need more of Patric’s great mind & dedication. It takes self responsibility to conquer whatever we want to conquer; in the familiy, community, nation & in the world in general. it all starts within us, and we all have something unique and big to offer not just ourselves, but OUR PEOPE as well. I’m happy Patric dicovered his & used it greatly. Great Job, Patric.
